The Black Hotels are an indie rock band from Johannesburg, South Africa. Their first release, a five-track EP called Beautiful Mornings, made them one of the most critically acclaimed South African indie bands of 2007.

In May 2009 the band released their first full-length album titled Films for the Next Century. The album was recorded at SABC studios and once again produced by Matthew.

In 2010 Films for the Next Century was nominated for a South African Music Award for Best Alternative Album.

The group's lyrics are sung by John Boyd and Lisa Campbell. John also plays guitar and Lisa plays bass. Neil White plays lead guitar, Warrick Poultney plays drums, Matthew Fink plays synthesizer.
